- Prof Yuan-Xiong Deng received a B.S. degree in Pharmaceutical Science from Tongji Medical University, Wuhan, China in 1990 and an M.S. degree in Pharmacology from China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, China in 2003.
- He also received a Ph.D. degree in Pharmacokinetics from China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, China in 2007. Now Prof. Deng works in pharmacokinetics and pharmacology at Hunan Normal University, Changsha, China.
- In terms of pharmacokinetics, Prof Yuan-Xiong Deng mainly focuses on the pharmacokinetics of Traditional Chinese medicine and the pharmacokinetics in disease states such as diabetes mellitus, hyperlipemia, and atherosclerosis.
- For example, Prof Yuan-Xiong Deng has finished the pharmacokinetic research of baicalin in diabetic rats after oral administration of Traditional Chinese medicine Huanglian Jiedu decoction and the mechanism investigation of the pharmacokinetic change of baicalin.
- Moreover, the pharmacokinetics of wogonoside has been investigated after the diabetic rats were orally administrated with the extract of Huanglian Jiedu decoction and the extract of Scutellaria baicalensis, and then the mechanism resulting in the pharmacokinetic change of wogonoside has been investigated. And he has completed the pharmacokinetic investigation of crocin in hyperlipemia rats.
- For the pharmacological research, he mainly studies the pharmacological mechanism of Traditional Chinese medicine in treating diabetic hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis. Especially, he currently concentrates on the investigation of the effects of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on the intestinal microbiota of diabetes to explore the mechanism of TCM in the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
- For instance, Prof Yuan-Xiong Deng has finished the effects of the polysaccharide from Gynura divaricata(L.)DC. on the diabetic rats and completed the investigation of the effects of TCM Huanglian Jiedu decoction on the type 2 diabetic rats, and then explored the mechanism. Moreover, he has completed the investigation of the effects of crocin on atherosclerotic rats.
